When we first encounter the Enneagram, we learn about the nine types and this greatly improves our understanding of ourselves and other people with unprecedented clarity and insight. If we continue our studies, we learn that this system is not only about typing people—it is really about learning to be present to our lives. We learn that all of the best qualities in us are actually qualities of presence. As we explore this presence, we discover that it is not merely some personal quality, it is what truly connects us with others and with life. In this sense, we can think of presence as a relational field.

Learning to reconnect with the living field of presence greatly enhances our ability to bring our best to others—in both personal and professional relationships as well as in groups and teams. We learn how our personal inner work becomes a work of more consciously relating to others and the world.

In this new workshop, Russ Hudson will invite us to explore with fresh eyes the different aspects of the relational field. Each of the nine types then becomes a way of relating to this field, and provides support for navigating the growing complexity, rapid change, and new challenges in life and in the world today. We will learn ways to deepen the quality of connection and awaken the possibility for real change in our relationships and in how we approach problems in our lives.

We will also explore the concept of emergence: presence is not static, not a mood, but the dynamic and creative expression of life. Being able to open to emergence entails trust, deep listening, and the ability to flow with others. In many ways, this is a new kind of presence-based leadership.

With Russ’s guidance and with experiential exercises we can experience a a more powerful sense of being present that leaves one free from reactivity and able to relate more able to consciously participate in the relational field. This workshop is timely and represents the latest in Russ’s ever evolving approach to applying the Enneagram in our everyday lives.
